The West Valley Freethinkers (WVFT) is hosting a joint field trip with Idaho Atheists and Cosmos Coffee Club to the opening exhibits of the Northwest “Science” Museum (a creationist hall of lies and misinformation) currently being hosted by the Zion Christian School in Nampa, ID at noon on Saturday July 30. This event is open to all members of the secular community, however you will have to behave yourself and be respectful. There will be plenty of time for mockery at the potluck that will follow. I’ll be going and I’ll have a blog post up about it on Sunday.
WVFT will be having a discussion with Christian apologist and radio personality Matt Slick at some point that’s still to be determined.
WVFT is still working out the details of the interviews for the Idaho Press Tribune. I’ll let you know how that goes.
The second Tuesday of each month is Idaho Atheists’ Meet an Atheist gathering at Tom Grainey’s Sporting Pub in downtown Boise. At the July meeting we had over 30 people in attendance, including a few Christians who were working on a project for college that some how involved atheists. There’s nothing better than having a few beers with a bunch of atheists, so if you live in the area be sure to join us.
Cosmos Coffee Club meets the first and third Tuesday of each month to discuss science, naturalism, skepticism, and technology. We rotate facilitators/presenters each time and have a different topic of discussion each week.
West Valley Freethinkers meets each weekend, usually on Sunday, for several hours of godless bull shitting. It’s always a good time.
If you don’t live in the Treasure Valley, then I recommend getting involved in your local secular community (if you’re not already) and if there aren’t any groups where you live, go a head and start one.
*Disclosure – I am on the leadership teams of both WVFT and Cosmos Coffee Club.
