I’ve seen some satirical argumentation about whether hell, excuse me, Hell is exothermic or endothermic. In other words is it hot or cold. The answer I’ve found is that it’s both.
Last summer we spent a good two months with day time highs over 95 F and weeks with insanely fast moving thunderstorms blowing through the valley with lots of wind caused destruction that then started fires in the mountains around leaving the end of the summer horrible smoky. I’m not kidding about how smoky it was. We spent a good six weeks without being able to see the sun.
Now we’re in a winter where it’s only gotten above freezing a few times since Christmas. It snowed, then the snow had time to form a hard packed surface. Then we got freezing rain, so we had sheets of ice on top of almost polished hard packed snow. Then we finally reached the point where it’s getting above freezing during the day, creating slush which then refreezes into a hard packed, icy mess. Now it’s getting coated with fresh snow. We currently have what seems like several alternating layers of ice and snow. Very slick.
I love it here. Boise is damn hear heavenly.
That massive region they ironically call the Midwest*, now that’s a different story. The summers are hot and humid, the winters frigid, and they have tornadoes. Heck, they even predict snow fall levels based on proximity to water, not elevation. When I was in Michigan, people looked at me funny when I asked what the snow level was. Even worse, you can’t look up and see mountains. You can’t even drive for a day and get to mountains, hence the lack of snow levels. Then, in the heart of it all there is a quaint little town in Michigan that’s home to the Seventh-day Theological Seminary. Hell is real and it’s ironically located in Berrien Springs.**
*Ironic since it’s in the eastern half of the country. Mideast would be far more fitting, but that name is already taken to describe Southwest Asia. It’s almost as if they decided what the global regions were with a false assumption that London is the center of the world and they decided what the US regions were based on a false assumption that New York is the center of the country.
**Ironic because Adventists don’t believe in a hell.
