Today’s a Tuesday Science Double Header with the news in this article and a great video about evolution coming in two hours.
- Jen McCright does a great breakdown of the current research, or lack there of, on the G-spot.
- NASA lost contact with the Spirit rover a year ago, six years into it’s 90 day mission (that’s right, it out performed expectations), but they’ve given up hope and have ended the project.
- The WHO has announced that cell phones might cause brain cancer. They say it might because there’s no clear evidence to support the claim. Stacey at Skepchick does a great job of tearing apart the report and so does PZ Myers. I just generally don’t like to hold my phone to my ear, but it’s ironic that my bluetooth headset just crapped out on me.
- The fertility doctor behind “Octomom” is losing his medical license. Sounds like a good idea to me since it was intentional and very irresponsible.
- A new study shows that it was the female Australopithecus africanuses who left home, not the males. This is a common practice among communal species to prevent inbreeding. Which gender leaves is also often a factor in which tends to be socially dominate, as can be seen in the differences between Chimpanzees and Bonobos.
- There are now two new elements, 114 and 116, in the Periodic Table.
- CERN has now trapped Antimatter for 16 minutes.
Now that Tuesday Science News in is in its second week, what do you think about it? Is this a good addition to the blog?
