Reworking traditions

While I was growing up in the Adventist church, my favorite part of the Sabbath was Friday night. After supper I’d light the various candles we had in the house and then we’d turn off the lights and enjoy some good family time.

Now, Friday night is still one of my favorites, although the tradition has changed. While work can sometimes get in the way of it, what I like to do is eat pizza, have a few beers, and watch a movie or dink around with some Linux install or some new software, then sleep until 10:00 am or 12:00 pm. Although thanks to family and some poor communication I now have to bump my departure time tomorrow and get up a 4:00 am to try to get to Kelso in time for pictures.

Last weekend’s wedding I worked logistics, poured drinks, and officiated, at least at this one my duties are no more than showing up and flirting with bridesmaids.

I’ve got a little something scheduled for tomorrow, otherwise my break is back on.
