As a Christian the concept of people having to accept or reject God made sense to me, by the time I was an atheist it clearly did not. I never rejected God, I just was no longer able to believe. DarkMatter2525 does a great job of attempting to explain how this works. I think it may be a little more nuanced than he makes it, but it’s a great explanation.
