Praise the L-rd

At work today a coworker said, “Praise the lard.”

Since I know he’s at least nominally religious I found thought that I might have miss heard him. So I responded with, “Did you say lard?” He acknowledged that he did, so I said something like, “at least it makes food taste better.”

He then said, “We should at least praise something that serves a purpose.”

I should have said, “That’s hilarious and I totally agree, but that’s not appropriate for the workplace,” but I enjoyed it so much I couldn’t say anything.

  1. In cache valley, UT, it's common to switch "a" and "o" sounds. I like his approach. I may even try it out myself. Could I say praise the Bacon fat?

  2. I don't see why you couldn't do that…but I like the subtlety of saying lard, unless of course you find yourself in Cache Valley, UT.

  3. Reminds me of a book I read, in which a kid made a Christmas card that said "JOY TO THE WORDL! THE SAVIOR RESIGNS!" (the title of the chapter was called "Excepting Christ" which is slightly less subtle)

  4. Sounds awesome!
