A long time ago a young Egyptian man get’s done with his hard day’s toil working in the king’s field and goes home for a piece of bread and some beer. After downing a few with his dog at his side he decides it’s time to go to bed. Just as he starts to doze off the sky lights up. He jumps out of bed and sees a giant of a being hovering far above in the sky looking to the northeast and saying, “It is good.”
The young man shouts at him, “Turn that out! Some of us have to work in the morning!”
That was in the fall of 4004 BCE.
Note: Most young earth creationists estimate creation to have taken place about 6000 – 10,000 years ago. Egyptians brewed their first beer about 10,000 years ago and dogs were domesticated from wolves about 15,000 – 20,000 years ago.
On another note, since I do satire on Saturdays, any thoughts on if I should name this segment “Sabbath Sacrilege” or “Desecrating the Sabbath”?
Of course, now that I’ve written that, I just remembered that Pharyngula used to have a “Sunday Sacrilege,” but that hasn’t been used in several months. When I first started doing satire on Saturday’s I had wanted to call it “Sabbath Sacrilege” but didn’t for this reason. If you guys think it’s a good idea, I may ask PZ Myers for permission since they are just close enough to seem like I’d be copying his idea.
